Energy Regulatory Office Department of Energy Efficiency and Cogeneration - Departments and Bureaus

The Department of Energy Efficiency and Cogeneration (DEK) is responsible for:

• ensuring the operation of support mechanisms for the production of electricity from high-efficiency cogeneration (guaranteed premium, cogeneration premium, individual guaranteed premium, individual cogeneration premium) and accounting for the actual volume of electricity produced from high-efficiency cogeneration;
• processing applications for compensation payable to entities operating in energy-intensive sectors or sub-sectors, and monitoring the fulfilment of obligations by the beneficiaries;
• administering the system of energy efficiency certificates with regard to their issuance and redemption;
• monitoring the fulfilment by energy companies, final customers, commodity brokerage houses and brokerage houses of the obligation to achieve end-use energy savings as a result of the implementation of an energy efficiency improvement project or projects at the final customer’s, or to acquire energy efficiency certificates and present them for redemption, or to pay the substitution fee;
• monitoring the fulfilment by industrial customers, energy companies, final customers, commodity brokerage houses and brokerage houses of the obligation to obtain and present for redemption certificates of origin from cogeneration, or the payment of substitution fees;
• issuing guarantees of origin for electricity produced in high-efficiency cogeneration units:
• verification of energy efficiency audits and monitoring of the implementation by entrepreneurs of their obligation to carry out enterprise energy audits.
