Gas market: the President of the URE approved a new gas sale tariff for PGNIG Obrót Detaliczny. From July 1, the gas price under this tariff drops by 14.8 per cent.
On 29 May 2025, the President of the URE approved a tariff for PGNIG Obrót Detaliczny Sp. z o.o. (PGNiG OD). The natural gas price for household consumers and some categories of consumers being entities executing public tasks (hospitals, schools, nurseries, kindergartens, night shelters, etc.)[1] increases to 204.26 PLN/MWh.
The new tariff for PGNiG OD for the sale of gas fuels is going to be valid from 1 July 2025, to 30 June 2026. The gas prices, in relation to the prices specified by PGNiG OD in tariff No. 15 (valid from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025), dropped by approx. 14.8 per cent, which means a reduction from 239.65 PLN/MWh to 204.26 PLN/MWh. The subscription fees remained unchanged. The above results in a fall in average prices in trading: by 14.25 per cent for high-methane natural gas, 14.22 per cent for Lw high-nitrogen natural gas, and 14.29 per cent for Ls high-nitrogen natural gas.
Apart from the gas prices and delivery charges, PGNiG OD household consumers also pay for gas transmission (distribution). It means that the effect of the implementation of the tariff approved today concerns only the part of the bill that pertains to the fuel gas consumption. Thus, the change in terms of the total bill amount is lower than 14.8 per cent because the delivery charge rates and fuel gas distribution service charges remain unchanged. - Prices approved and provided by the Regulator are net prices.
- The total amount of the gas bills paid by household consumers covers: fuel gas charges, delivery charges, and fuel gas distribution (transmission) charges on the basis of charge rates specified in the distribution system operator tariffs (such as PSG).
- The President of the URE approves tariffs both for gas sales (only for the consumers who consume gas for household purposes and consumers who perform essential public-related tasks) and for gas distribution services (for all groups of consumers).
- Most PGNiG OD household consumers pay distribution charges usually according to the tariff provided by Polska Spółka Gazownictwa due to the scale of the company’s business.
- Pursuant to the applicable regulations, the last time the Regulator is going to approve the tariffs for the sale of gas to household consumers and consumers who perform essential public-related tasks is in 2027. Afterwards, tariffs will still be approved for using the gas infrastructure (for storage, transmission, distribution, and related to liquefaction and regasification).
