Hydrogen market: The President of the URE has granted GAZ-SYSTEM a derogation of the mandatory retention of the legal entity commercial operations independent from its fuel gas transmission business
On 27 October 2025, the President of the URE (Energy Regulatory Office) granted GAZ-SYSTEM a derogation of the mandatory retention of the legal entity commercial operations independent from its fuel gas transmission business[1].
The derogation is definite from 5 August 2026 to 30 June 2039. By 4 August 2026, GAZ-SYSTEM, operating as a hydrogen transmission system operator, is not required to retain its legal entity separation from its fuel gas transmission business[2].
The filing of the request for that derogation was prerequisite for GAZ-SYSTEM to be granted the status of a hydrogen transmission system operator[3], valid until 4 August 2026.
The President of the URE issued the derogation along with a schedule of asset transfer from the natural gas sector to the hydrogen sector.
